Answers

Who can come?
Anyone between 16 and 30 years of age. We won’t give you the boot for being younger or older, but the program is aimed at people within this age bracket.

When is it?
19-21 September 2008, the first weekend of most school holidays. Registration opens at 5:30pm Friday night, and the Recharge Café will be open from 4:00pm.  The convention finishes after lunch on Sunday afternoon.

Where is it?
Recharge is located at the Mt Tamborine Convention Centre, 237 Beacon Road, North Tamborine. For more details on how to get there visit the 'About Us' page by clicking here.

How much does it cost?
There are two costs: Registration, and Accommodation.

Early Bird Registration for the full weekend costs only $20!  The standard registration fee for the full weekend is $30.
There are several accommodation venues with prices ranging from $20 for camping (self-catered), or from $80 to $100 for the fully catered accommodation centres.
So the total cost depends on where you stay and when you pay the registration fee.

Why are there 2 payments to make? Why can’t I just pay a lump sum?
First you must pay registration. Think of this as like paying a deposit. Recharge uses a number of accommoation centres, all located on the Mount Tamborine Convention site. When you register, you will nominate 2 preferred accommodation centres. As these fill up fast, you can’t presume there will be space for you. If you pay and there is no room in that venue, you may end up paying too much, or not enough. When we receive your registration, the first thing we will do is look to find a vacancy in your preferred centre. We will then contact you to let you know where you have been booked in to stay. Once we know this, you may then pay for accommodation. Think of this as completing the transaction!

What do I do for a group booking?
If you’re bringing a group, we’ve put together a helpful checklist to assist you in planning for and organising your group members Checklist for Group Leaders.  Each individual person attending Recharge 2008 needs to fill in a Registration Form.  As a group leader, you can use the Group Registration Form to help organise all the forms. You will need to collect and post all the individual Registration Forms and registration fee payments.  Once your group registration has been received, you (the group leader) will be contacted to confirm your group’s accommodation location. You will also be provided with details on how to collect money and pay for the accommodation fees for your group.

How do I decide which accommodation centre to stay at?
It all depends on what type of facilities you would like, and how much you would like to pay.  Each option provides a different standard of meals and accommodation, and generally the more expensive places have more expensive food and newer facilities.  The accommodation centres have the following facilities/ options:

  • Presbyterian – cabin style rooms with shared amenities, fully catered
  • CMS – cabin style rooms with central amenities block, fully catered
  • WEC – ensuited cabins, fully catered
  • Tamborine Lodge – ensuited, 2-bedroomed ‘motel style’ units, fully catered.

Can I bring my tent?
Absolutely! We are encouraging people to bring their tents and camp at Recharge 2008 as it is the best value option! The Early Bird camping and registration price is only $40 per person. There are shower and toilet facilities available as well as tap water. Some powered sites are available – just be sure to specially request one.

What if I only come for a day?
Day Visitors are very welcome. You will have to pay a day or night registration fee and organise your own meals.  The Recharge Café serves meals, snacks and drinks, and is open all day except during the main sessions.  To find out more about individual day or night session registration prices, click here.

What should I bring?
» Your bible and something for note-taking - there is a lot of top stuff you will want to remember!
» Clothes for changing weather conditions – although it can be hot during the day, nights can get quite chilly on the mountain.
» Cash to spend at the Recharge Café, the bookshop, extra activities and a support offering (Recharge is not-for-profit).
» Your mates!

Who is behind Recharge?
Recharge operates on behalf of the Mount Tamborine Convention Council. The Recharge Committee consists of people from various church backgrounds who have a passion to contribute to the organisation and growth of this weekend convention. Recharge is a "not for profit" organisation.
