What's On?

The line-up of speakers, activities and attractions for Recharge 2008 is growing all the time!  Tim Hein is the Keynote Speaker and Andrew Sercombe is returning to lead the main sessions.  A huge range of quality elective speakers will address a wide range of practical issues.  We’re excited about the speakers coming to share with us over the weekend.  Follow the links for more details about the speakers.

There’s always footy finals on the big screen, Friday Night Social Event, a jumping castle, The Pinnacle (HigherGround’s climbing wall), sport and lots more.  Great food and live entertainment will feature at the Recharge Café and heaps of books, music and other material will be available at the bookshop.  Watch this space for more details over the coming months!

This is the place to grab meals and refreshments, kick back, hang with friends, or enjoy live entertainment.  With all meals available - yes, including breakfast - it’s a great option for campers who don’t want to self-cater for all their meals. Eftpos facilities will be available at the Recharge Café this year.

Exhibitors Entry Tent

This is probably one of the most powerful elements to the whole convention.  The Entry Tent showcases an exhibition of many organisations that are making a difference in people’s lives around the world.  Here you will find proof of the Kingdom of God at work through all kinds of practical endevours.  You have an incredible opportunity to talk to and connect with representative from many organizations. Find out how you can get involved using the gifts and skills you have right now, you don’t need to leave it for the “future”!

Friday Night Social Event

Friday Night at Recharge is Prom Night! It's going to be brill! Come dressed in your most radical 80's prom fashion, so puff those sleeves, insert your shoulder pads, and tease/slick/style your hair to the max. Be prepared for a night of gnarly fun with some totally awesome 80's inspired games, music, and of course ....dancing. There are some righteous prizes for best dressed, competition and game winners. Who knows, you may even be crowned Prom King or Queen! It's gonna be radical!

Saturday Activities

Recharge rec-land // 2:30 - 5:00pm
Grab your friends and come and have some fun at our mini-Ekka! Battle it out in the Bouncy Boxing ring. Race your mates on the Horizontal Bungee. Jump for joy in the Giant Jumping Castle, or discover your inner cowboy (or cowgirl) on the Bucking Bronco. For those who love heights, the 'Pinnacle' climbing wall is back. If you're not so keen on participating, grab some fairy floss, or something from the Café and find a patch of grass. We're sure there will be heaps of big hits, thrills and spills to keep you entertained!

Sacred cows make the best hamburgers // 2:30-3:30pm
Melinda Tankard Reist (Women's Forum Australia), and Michael Knight and Sam Brewer (PeerPower Australia) work with youth all over the country on a daily basis. Their knowledge and insight in this field is top shelf. They'll host a forum discussing arguably the most important issues facing young people today, so come ready to pick their brains. Grab a coffee, pull up a pew and strap yourself in.

Sport // 3pm
Been sitting down too long? Need to stretch your legs and get the blood pumping? The guys from State Youth Games are organising some games for those sporty people who need to, 'Just do it'.
Where? Meet at the basketball hoop near the exhibitor tents.
 
Live @ the café // 9:30pm til late
Relax and enjoy live music from a host of local talent. Catch up with friends, get cosy on the couches, and warm yourselves up with something to eat or drink.

Gettin’ Cross Cultural // 9:30 - 10:30pm
If cross-cultural service is a possibility for you in future, this is a great opportunity to chat with missionaries serving with WEC, Pioneers and Global Interaction. They’ll share how they got involved in overseas mission, where they have been and what God has laid on their hearts. Explore some how, when and where questions that will suit your God-given skills and ambitions.

Late night worship gathering // 9pm til late
An opportunity to worship and pray.

Footy finals replayed // 9:30pm til late
A complete replay of Saturday Night NRL & AFL finals on the big screen. The crowd will decide the order of the games!
